Built on a love of wood and good design

We work with real wood, quality materials, and people who care about how spaces feel. From product design to installation, everything we do is about creating panels that look considered and work effortlessly in everyday spaces.

A simple love of wood, and a passion for working with like-minded designers

A passion for quality materials and elements

Uncomplicated DIY and modern design

What we believe

We believe great spaces should feel warm, calm, and finished.

That’s why our panels are made with real wood veneer, offering the natural grain, texture, and variation you expect from quality timber. By pairing that veneer with engineered cores, we’re able to deliver consistent quality, better durability, and simpler installation than traditional solid wood.

It’s the balance between beauty and practicality that makes our panels work so well in real homes and commercial spaces.

Who we make panels for

Our panels are designed for people who care about how their spaces feel.

That includes homeowners upgrading a room, DIY-curious renovators chasing a professional finish, designers specifying for clients, and builders and commercial teams working to tight timelines.

Whether it’s a single wall or a full fit-out, our panels are made to deliver impact without unnecessary complexity.

Real spaces. Real transformations.

With over one million panels sold worldwide, our products have helped transform tens of thousands of homes, workplaces, and commercial spaces.

From small upgrades to large projects, we’re proud to be part of spaces people feel genuinely good in. Walls are more than surfaces. They shape the mood, comfort, and character of a room, and that’s exactly what we focus on.

Quality you can trust

We take material selection seriously.

Our wall panels are crafted using responsibly sourced wood veneers and engineered components chosen for consistency and longevity. Every design decision is made with real use in mind, so panels look great on day one and continue to perform over time.

From sourcing to finishing, quality control is central to how we operate.

Meet our founder

If you’ve spent time with Laurence, you’ll quickly realise he knows wood inside out. But more than that, he brings energy, curiosity, and genuine encouragement to everyone he works with, from his team to customers and trade partners.

With over four decades of experience in the veneer trade, Laurence combines deep craftsmanship with a forward-thinking approach to design and manufacturing. He understands tradition, but he’s never been interested in doing things the old way just because that’s how they’ve always been done.

He has a natural way of sharing knowledge, offering perspective, and helping people see what’s possible in a space, often all in the same conversation.

WVH was built on his belief that quality materials, honest craftsmanship, and thoughtful design should be accessible. That belief continues to guide everything we make today.

Our story so far

1970s

Where it all began

Laurence started his career learning wood and veneer inside out as a management trainee for William Mallinson & Sons in East London. Through hands-on work, training, and study, he built a foundation of craftsmanship and material knowledge that still guides everything we do today.

1980s

Deepening expertise

Laurence became a sales manager for Wood Conversion Ltd in Slough in the early 1980s, specializing in African Veneers from their factories in Ghana, making regular visits to inspect the quality of the veneers. In the late 1980s, Laurence became the UK agent for Danish Overseas Trading, selling teak veneer to the UK and USA marine and furniture markets, continually building up knowledge and experience.

1990s

Working and collaborating with the luxury automotive industry

Laurence became a Sales Director for Wilkinson Veneers in London, a long-established London veneer merchanting company. From here, Laurence started to get involved with selling exotic burl veneers to the automotive industry, including Rolls Royce and Bentley. Jaguar, Rover, and Mini.

2000s

Building something of our own

Founding Freed Veneers Ltd, Laurence began crafting a business rooted in real wood and real solutions. This was the start of a purpose-led journey toward accessible design.

2010s

Diversifying the business with exciting growth.

WVH expanded significantly, moving to larger facilities, launching new panel ranges like Acupanel, and responding to a growing DIY design movement. This decade set the stage for global expansion.
