Plaank® Exterior Slat Panels are specifically designed for exterior use and built to handle the demands of outdoor environments. We’re currently starting both BRANZ Appraisal and CodeMark certification to ensure full compliance with NZ and AU building standards, making future specification seamless across all projects.
In the meantime, for cladding on new builds or consented projects, we recommend checking with your local council on a case-by-case basis. For non-consented applications like fences, garden screens, and feature walls, you’re good to go.

FAQs
Why do Plaank® Exterior Composite Wood Effect Panels arrive?
The exterior wall panels are shipped in boxes, with two pieces in a box. Each panel is 300cm long, by 19.2cm wide. Put together they have a width of 38.4.
Can I get the panels in bigger/smaller sizes?
Our exterior wall panels coming in a 300cm length, but can be joined easily to create a longer piece, and can be cut down to cover smaller areas.
Do I need to treat or maintain the panels outside?
Nope! Just jet-wash/pressure-wash on a low setting with a wide spray angle, preferably from a distance prevent early wear and tear.
How do I install the panels?
We recommend installing the cladding on joists with a small gap at the bottom, to allow for proper drainage. Please refer to the installation video and guide for in-depth installation guidance.
Are the colours accurate?
We have made every effort to display as accurately as possible the colors of our products that appear on this website. However, we cannot guarantee that your monitor’s display of any color will accurately reflect the color of the actual goods, and advise purchasing a sample beforehand.
Will the colour fade?
No! Thanks to UV-resistant technology, the colour remains vibrant and is guaranteed not to fade in the first 10 years, even after years of sun exposure.
Are the panels waterproof and UV resistant?
Yes! Our exterior slat panels are completely waterproof and UV-resistant, ensuring they withstand rain, sun, and varying temperatures without fading, warping, or deteriorating.
Can I hide wires behind the panels?
Yes - since the panels are installed on joists, you will have plenty of space to hide wires. Perfect for hiding wires to outdoor speakers.
How can I hide the edges of the panels?
There are multiple ways to finish the edges of the panels. We offer corner finishing trims as well as fascia boards (fascia boards coming soon) that are colour-matched to the panels, to create the perfect finish to your project.
What do I do if I have window, plug sockets or other things to install around?
You can cut the panels around these spaces, but please be aware that since the panels will be installed on joists, the sockets will be recessed, and additional fixings may be required to make this flush. For windows and doors, please refer to the tech sheet for installation instructions.
Can the panels be used in a bathroom or kitchen?
Absolutely! While they’re designed to handle outdoor conditions, they’re also perfect for bathrooms, kitchens, and feature walls. Anywhere you want a stylish wood-effect finish.
What surfaces can I mount the panels on?
You can mount the panels on all surfaces including brick, concrete and plasterboard. We recommend wherever possible, to install joists (wood or aluminum) on the surface first.
Can I use other hardware with Plaank®?
Yes, other hardware would work, but please be aware that the use of other hardware voids the warranty.
Can I return the panels?
You can return unused Exterior panels within 30 days after delivery (T's and C's apply). Refer to our refund policy for more detail.
